T-Shirts and Rocks

T-shirts have become an annual tradition for our trip to Southend.  We bring shirts  for them that are unique to the year and the message.   The Bible camp theme this year is about the Power of Jesus.  It’s the only super power that we need.   The shirts always have a cross for the “t” in Southend to show that Jesus is there and with them always.  For 2016 the message is JESUS – HE’S GOT THE POWER!   The colors change each year and this summer the younger/VBS kids will receive the green shirts which we will give away on Thursday.  We will spend time that day “signing shirts” as that is something they seem to think is really special.   The teens will receive the raspberry colored shirts and any extra shirts are given to the adults in the community.   They look forward to the shirts and appreciate the gift and reminder of Jesus being with them.    It’s always fun to see the kids wearing t-shirts from all the previous years as well.

Rocks were painted by members of the LAMP team to remind the kids of Jesus!   They will be given out  throughout the trip to people we meet along the way and to members of the Southend community.

Back to Canada eh'

Father Mark Blom from Southend says, "When the LAMP team comes, they create instant community. Children and adults alike are eager to hear the gospel message shared by the people they know love them." How could you not go back to that community and spread God's love more and more?

Our team has been preparing and we are very excited to get back into the community on July 4th. While we're there we will have Vacation Bible School which includes music, games, snacks, and stories. We'll also have two teen nights that include a bonfire, soccer, food, and a devotion. The women on the team will host an evening with the women of Southend as well.

We depart on July 2nd and will be returning on the 9th. We will be updating the blog very often on our trip.

Please pray for wisdom in final preparations for the team, joy and safety in the journey there and back and that God's love would be full to overflowing in the hearts of all the children and adults in Southend and that our team would be filled with the Holy Spirit so that Jesus is lifted high!  Please pray that the people of Southend will understand more and more how much the LORD loves them, that they would be filled with hope and that all would come to know Jesus as their Savior!

"Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth!  Sing to the LORD, bless His Name; tell of His salvation from day to day.  Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all the peoples!  For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised!"  ~ Psalm 96
